How to Use Turn by Turn Navigation on an iPhone or iPad: 6 Steps

With the new Maps app featuring turn-by-turn navigation, your iPhone or iPad can now become a GPS navigational device for your car. This article will show you how to use it.
STEPS

TAP THE MAPS ICON ON YOUR IPHONE’S HOME SCREEN TO LAUNCH THE MAPS APP.

TAP THE ARROW BUTTON AT THE BOTTOM RIGHT OF THE SCREEN TO FIND YOUR CURRENT LOCATION.

TAP THE DIRECTIONS BUTTON (THE ARROW AT A RIGHT ANGLE) AT THE TOP LEFT OF THE SCREEN.

TAP THE BUTTON FOR CAR, WALKING OR BUS AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN TO CHOOSE THE MODE OF TRANSPORT YOU ARE USING. Now type the location you want to get to into the End field. When it appears in the list below, tap on it.

IF MULTIPLE ROUTES APPEAR, TAP THE ONE YOU WANT TO FOLLOW. Now tap the Start button.

SIRI WILL NOW BEGIN SPEAKING YOUR ROUTE TO YOU AS YOU TRAVEL AND SHOW YOUR POSITION AND DIRECTION INFORMATION ON THE MAP. Tap anywhere on the screen to view your ETA.

TIPS
At any point on your route you can ask Siri questions like “Where can I get gas?”. Siri will find nearby locations along your set route.
The Maps app tracks your movement and will suggest alternate routes if you are slowed down by traffic congestion.
Rather than manually locate a place, you can also ask Siri “How do I get to...” to bring up directions.
At any point on your journey you can tap the Overview button to show the full route on the map. Tap the Resume button to return to turn-by-turn directions.
WARNINGS
Always pull over or have a passenger control your iPhone or iPad while you drive when using turn-by-turn navigation.
Make sure Location Services is turned on in the Settings app in order for turn-by-turn navigation to operate properly.
