METHOD 1 OF 2: USING IOS 7

SWIPE YOUR FINGER DOWN ON ANY PAGE OF THE HOME SCREEN. However, do not start swiping at the very top of the screen—That will open the Notification Center instead. 2
TYPE IN YOUR SEARCH QUERY. 3
SCROLL THROUGH THE RESULTS BY SWIPING UP AND DOWN UNTIL YOU FIND THE RESULT YOU\'RE LOOKING FOR. Tap on it to open the result. The new Spotlight Search function does not come with the options to "Search Wikipedia" or "Search Web".
METHOD 2 OF 2: USING IOS 6 AND BEFORE

SWIPE YOUR FINGER ACROSS YOUR IPHONE’S FIRST HOME SCREEN FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. 2
TAP THE FIELD AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN AND TYPE YOUR SEARCH. 3
SWIPE A FINGER UP THE SCREEN TO VIEW ALL SEARCH RESULTS ORGANIZED BY CONTACTS, APPS, E-MAILS, MESSAGES, REMINDERS AND OTHERS SUCH AS MEDIA FILES, NOTES AND VOICE MEMOS. Tap any of the results view the item. 4
SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN AND TAP SEARCH WEB OR SEARCH WIKIPEDIA TO VIEW RESULTS FROM THE INTERNET. TIPS
Under the General section of the Settings app you can tap Spotlight Search and select which categories are searched and edit the order they appear in results.
A Top Hit will be shown at the top of the search results showing the most relevant search result.
