How to Use an Android to Detect Metal (with Pictures) - wikiHow

One advantage Android has over other smart phones is the ability to detect metal. With the right app, you can use your Android to find metallic objects.
STEPS

1
OPEN THE GOOGLE PLAY APP FROM HOME SCREEN. Click the spyglass option in the top right.

2
TYPE IN "DETECT METAL." Select one of the apps that comes up.

3
CLICK "INSTALL." Click "accept and download" to get the app installed on your phone. Click "Open" to open the new app.

4
HOLD THE BOTTOM OF YOUR PHONE CLOSE TO METAL. You'll see the arrow on the detection app swing up towards red when it's a few inches away from a metal source.
TIPS
This app can be useful if you drop something metallic in the sand, since you only need a few inches of detection that way.
WARNINGS
Don't hold your phone to close to your computer or anything else that's magnet sensitive while the app is active.
